Full moon eclipse in Pisces

September 18 - Unveiling the Shadow

Today the moon reaches completion in the watery sign of Pisces at 25º 40’ in conjunction with its ruling sign Neptune at 28º 35’ Pisces opposite the sun in Virgo.  This is the harvest moon of September - a special moon for me marking the arrival of my orange moon cat George who came knocking at my door and filled a void in my heart! (Happy gotcha day George).

Eclipses are always a poignant moment in time - they create a lasting change offering life reviews and a moment to link into the shadow and reveal what lies within. Deep in the dark are the remnants of inner fears that we are asked to consider, confront and release - unblocking blockages and clearing our paths. This is a water moon - it asks to go with the flow - be carried on the ripples and the current and be taken on a new journey - destination unknown. For life is a flow in itself and there is no certain place that we are meant to be - though in our minds eye we have formulated that structure in linear time. Instead we need to surrender and flow. Be in acceptance and trust our path even at times when it is unclear as there is a greater plan at play. This moon delves deep into our shadow psyche unveiling that which we have kept hidden or that which has been hidden from us. This is akin to travelling through the fog - the nebulous landscape of Neptune…

On its journey to completion (full) the moon has met with Saturn in conjunction first - a conversation has been had. Saturn rules over that which is structured and lasting - a permanence. It whispered to the moon - in order to follow dreams you must put certain things in place. Saturn has been meeting with fixed star Achernar which sits in the constellation Eridanus - the great river. Achenar is the end of the river (or the mouth of the river as it is known) - that which we strive to move towards in order to complete our journey. Achernar encourages patience and perseverance, it loves travel in order to gain knowledge. ‘The star at the end of the river’ is a shining light that we strive to reach. It is also interesting to note that Achernar can cause flooding as we are currently seeing in many countries as it portends rain.

In opposition to Saturn - Mercury has his curiosity peaked as he had a direct vision of the moon Saturn meeting - and when Mercury is curious he wants to know it all and now! You may find your mind buzzing with questions as Mercury goes into overdrive curious as to the why’s where’s how’s and how-tos. If you find this happening - ground. Use the energy of the Virgo sun to stop this through meditation etc or a walk in nature to cease the mind chatter and give you peace.

After such a serious talk the moon joins Neptune to delve into our innermost dreams, triumph over fears and help to formulate faith. This is a strange eclipse in a way as it is a partial eclipse (no chunks out of the moon as that doesn’t happen - you may see a slight shadow as the moon changes to a murky orange brown but this is only slight) and off axis as the nodes of fate (of the moon) are still aligned in the Aries/Libra axis. (NN Aries). So let’s note that the moon in Pisces is the end of the wheel - the last sign of the zodiac - and Aries in the North Node is the beginning of the wheel in the first sign of the zodiac. What does this suggest - a clearing of old to bringing that strong sense of Aries identity of self which we have been exploring over the past year. Note that the nodes move backwards so currently in 07º Aries they will move into the Pisces/Libra axis in late January 2025. The South Node is the karma - that which we leave behind. It forms a square to Mars who wishes to take action in order to release that past karmic energy and be able to seize upon the new opportunities that it brings. Leave that past behind - a new journey awaits and who wants to be lugging lots of heavy baggage around? This is a North Node aligned eclipse - let it bring in new energy, new ideas and allow the space for these to materialise in your life.

Uranus and Pluto are part of this lunation. They form two sextiles to the moon and join with the Virgo sun in a kite formation giving windows of opportunity for change through transformation. Pluto is breaking down the old ways and Uranus wishes to bring in new change - unsettling at the most but without change we are stagnant. This is forward thinking and openness enabling us to ride the waves of change through the proverbial river by breaking down, disseminating new information and ideas and creating a restructuring process. The kite shows us to ground through Virgo but also reminds us to be realistic and practical when visioning our future. However it aligns our higher self with the visions of Neptune and the moon bringing that opportunity to vision and create in ways that are achievable, possible and not completely out of reach. Remember that Saturn conversation - he restricts and slows us down - let’s not lose our heads in the sky. Time to get real. We can achieve our goals, we can realise our dreams but we have to lose the mindset of restrictions imposed by others and our self that keeps us in a rigid linear landscape. This is a time of breaking free from limitations. Believe in the universe, believe in the plan and believe that it can happen. Tap into your intuition and follow the signs as they are there you just need to notice them.

The Sabian symbol for this moon at 26 Pisces - ‘A new moon that divides influences’ asks on a collective level to dive deep into all that is unclear. There is deliberate divisiveness creating confusion and conflict. Delving into the undertone of the shadow of this division brings answers - there is so much hidden and we can choose to dwell in the depths or we can choose to emerge and sail through the river of life.

Alice: “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”

Cheshire Cat: “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.”

Alice: “I don’t much care where -”

Cheshire Cat: “Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.”

Time to swim with the current and not fight against it. This really is about trusting Divine Timing and being in alignment with the universal whole. When we do this and surrender that which is meant will come to us easily. That which is not will be a fight for survival. We need to be present and open and not blinded by our self imposed (or imposed) beliefs. Take off the rose tinted glasses and see the light. This creates an opening of possibilities through trust and faith in a higher realm which could bring you more that you could even imagine.

With much love

Christine
